This American Pale Ale is brewed by the Great Divide Brewing Company of Colorado. The alcohol content is 6.1%. It pours clear orange copper in color with foamy white head. Lots of hops in the nose. Grassy scent as well, with fresh oranges and a hint of sweet malt at the end. The taste is a very well balanced mix of piney/earthy hops and sweet malts. The two weave in and out as this beer runs over your tongue. The beer starts out smooth and finishes dry. This is what I think an American Pale Ale should be. I’ve bought a few of these in recent weeks as Total Wine has picked them up.
Denver Pale Ale is an English Pale made by the Great Divide Brewing Company. I take issue with the style of this beer – it is definitely more like an American Pale Ale. It pours a copper-yellow color with a huge foamy white head. I notice citrus and floral scents in the nose. The taste is heavy citrus (grapefruit) and bitter hops (lots of hops – like an American Pale Ale). The beer is a bit watery and then finishes dry. Overall, this beer was not bad. But, it is definitely heavy on the hops and should not be confused with a typical English Pale Ale. The alcohol content is 5.6%.
Saint Bridget’s Robust Porter is a product of the Great Divide Brewing Company in Colorado. This is an American Porter with 5.9% alcohol. It pours a very dark brown with a foamy tan head. I notice coffee and a hint of chocolate in the nose which is largely nutty. The taste follows suit with coffee, bitter chocolate and roasted malts. This porter is more bitter than most in the style. The mouthfeel is smooth. This is a decent porter overall. I’d buy it again.
This Russian Imperial Stout is a product of the Great Divide Brewing Company in Denver, Colorado. This one is not to be confused with the original Yeti Imperial Stout. I bought the 22 ounce bottle and the alcohol content weighs heavily at 9.5%. This beer pours black – probably the darkest beer I’ve ever seen. It has a thick, dark tan head that is foamy. The scent is dominated by roasted coffee, chocolate and alcohol. The taste was complex: roasted coffee, dark chocolate, a hint of vanilla, and enough hops to provide a long-lasting bitter finish. The mouthfeel is very creamy. I’m not sure how to put this in the right words, but I notice the alcohol in the mouthfeel (evaporative?). This is a BIG beer. Good one to sip on as the 9.5% can catch up to you in a hurry. I definitely recommend it.
