This is an Imperial IPA from the Lagunitas Brewing Company of California. It pours amber in color with an off-white head. This is one of the best smelling beers I’ve encountered in a while; a great bouquet of citrus hops, grapefruit, caramel, fruit, and floral undertones await. The taste starts out with sweet malt and citrus fruit (grapefruit and tangerine hints) but is quickly followed up by a dry, bitter hop infusion that lingers with you. This is a great beer. I was glad to find it this time after it selling out on the first day during the previous shipment. The alcohol content is 8% and warming.
This is an Imperial IPA from Rogue Ales Brewery of Oregon. I bought the 750mL black ceramic bottle. The alcohol content is 9.2%. It pours a cloudy burnt orange color with a thick off-white head leaving heavy, rocky lacing on the glass. This is a great beer to look at. The nose is made up of big grassy hops, floral scents, earthy undertones, and a little bit of sweet malt. The taste is an amazingly well balanced mix of bold grassy hops and sweet malts. It has nice sweetness in the background throughout and some citrus lingers in your mouth after swallowing. The beer is creamy and smooth throughout and finishes dry with an alcohol bite at the end. This is a very good beer and avoids the pitfalls of some other over-hopped West coast brews.
This is an Imperial IPA from the Stoudts Brewing Company of Pennsylvania. The alcohol content is 10%. It pours a hazy, copper orange color with a medium white head that has staying power. This is a great smelling beer: citrus, hops, caramel, malt, and alcohol. The taste is slightly tart upfront (fruits), bitter hops throughout, and then a dry finish with a taste of sweet caramel malts lingering at the end. The beer is smooth and creamy upfront; the alcohol is hidden very well. The beer is outstanding in every way.
This is an Imperial IPA from the Lagunitas Brewing Company of California. The alcohol content is 7.5%. It pours a bright copper color with an off-white head leaving lots of lacing on the glass. The nose is big on floral hops, citrus, and sweet malts. The taste is sweet upfront (caramel), then the big hops kick in with citrus (grapefruit) undertones. The beer is mostly smooth throughout with a bitter hop finish. The beer makes me think of an English pale ale that has been hopped up – and I like it. This one gets better and better as it warms up.
