A Munich Dunkel lager from Germany. This beer pours a dark brown, though very clear. The head is a pale tan and thick but fades quickly. The scent is distinctly made up of bread and raisins with toasted malt. The taste is slightly bitter with the taste of coffee standing out. The alcohol is low at 4.3%. This beer is pretty decent, but I am finding myself consistently underwhelmed by the German beers. Somebody recommend something.
This is a lager from Germany which has some of its water frozen off during the process to increase concentration. It poured a cloudy, medium brown color that was mostly unimpressive. I noticed cloves, raisins, and the alcohol in the scent. The alcohol content is high at 12%. The beer is quite syrupy and has a slightly medicinal taste. I thought it was awful and poured the 2nd half of the glass down the drain.
A lager out of Belgium, similar in style to Beck’s, Heineken, and Grolsch. This beer pours a medium yellow with average head. I smell a hint of peanut. The aftertaste is very good, adding to this beer’s drinkability. Alcohol content is 5.2% and unnoticeable in the taste. A good beer and one I’ll buy again in the future.
