This is a German Pilsener from Würzburger Hofbräu AG of Germany. The alcohol content is approximately 5% (not labeled). It pours a very pale yellow with a foamy white head. I notice grassy hops, grain, and an overall herbal slant to the nose. The taste is as you expect from a German Pilsener: grain, a bit of malt, and some spicy hops. The beer is fairly carbonated and grainy. Overall, not too bad, but nothing special.
This is a German Pilsener from the Stoudts Brewing Company of Pennsylvania. The alcohol content is 5.4%. It pours straw yellow with a slightly cloudy presentation. It has a white head that dissipates quickly. The nose is bready (wheat, grains), combined with citrus and spicy hops. The Saaz hops are prominent in the taste, balanced by a hint of bready malt and then a long, dry finish. The body is light-to-medium and there is a good level of carbonation to match the spice kick at the finish. This one is very drinkable. It is one of the best pilseners I’ve ever had. A great example of the style that I will buy again.
This is a Pilsner from the Victory Brewing Company of Pennsylvania. The alcohol content is 5.3%. The beer pours a pale, golden yellow color with a foamy white head. I notice floral scents, a hint of hops, and spice in the nose. The taste is dominated by peppery hops and the mouthfeel is crisp with a dry hop finish. Pilsners are not my favorite, but this was a nice beer.
